Bagh Lingampally: Telangana Human Rights Commssion chairman Justice Chandraiah stressed on the need for giving respect to women. He was speaking at a programme jointly organised by Arekapudi Purnachader Rao Foundation and NGOs Network here on Thursday to mark International Women's Day week. Awards were given to women who made significant contributions in various fields: Life excellence awards presented to B Sulochana, Chaitanya Jaini for education, Kandepi Rani Prasad for literature, K Jyothi for social service, Vasireddy Mallishwari for research, and Dhanalakshmi for Art.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Chandraiah said that the society needs to welcome the fact that women were competing with men in all the sectors. Respecting women should start from every home, he said. He urged parents to not to show any gender discrimination and treat children of both genders equally.

Among those who participated in the program were Arekapudi Purnachander Rao Foundation chairman Dr Vijay Kumar, noted poet and national general secretary of NGOs Network B Krishna, NCERT director Sheshu Kumari, women director of NGOs Network Krishna, censor board member Bharathi and others.
