Hyderabad: It seems the surprise visits of DGP M Mahendar Reddy and his guidance to the State police personnel during his visit to the police stations is bringing rapid changes in the working style of the police staff.

The vision of senior police officials to concentrate more on the proactive policing in addition to the reactive policing made systematic changes in the system of patrolling and vigilance.

The three police commissionerates staff in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have begun intensified patrolling in their limits through patrol cars and Blue Colts, which are yielding better results than the earlier times.

Police under the concept of Visible Policing, started appearing before the residents in their colonies and bastis and localities with their intensified patrolling.

Consequently, the residents of the Greater Hyderabad are feeling more comfortable than earlier and the movement of families has increased manifold during the night times.

The patrol cars equipped with three constables and Blue Colts bikes with two constables who are working in shifts in their respective sectors and reaching to the important places by reaching to the interior lanes and bylanes have brought down the anti-social activities and gatherings in the interior places where there are no CCTVs.

Due to regular conduct of checking at the cross roads, now the miscreants who made parks and unused grounds and newly constructing buildings as their dens have reduced their activities.

According to senior police officials, more than 6,000 police personnel are working round the clock across the State concentrating on sensitive areas to create fear among the offenders and to instill confidence among the citizens.

In Old City, families are seen doing late night shopping due to which heavy rush is seen in super markets, malls and chowrastas and at bakeries which was not seen earlier.

Since the DGP is concentrating more on the uniform services in all police station limits through the Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs), to provide better services to the citizens, the efficiency in attending the dial 100 calls, reaching to the spot within minutes and helping the needy, the vigilance in the colonies and bastis has changed drastically with positive results.
