Kazipet: Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya demanded the State Government to announce an exgratia of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of those students who committed suicide after they found themselves failed in the Intermediate examinations.

Speaking to media after consoling the parents of Inter student Bhanukiran Goud who ended his life recently, he said: "It was unfortunate that government has blithe concern towards the bereaved families who lost their wards due to bungling of Intermediate results."

Referring to the remarks of Board of Intermediate Education chief Ashok that students who failed in exams had only ended their lives, Dattatreya advised him not to pass such frivolous statements that disregard the efforts of students.

The senior BJP leader demanded the State Government to suspend Ashok, besides stripping Education Ministry from G Jagadeeshwar Reddy.

Later, he also consoled the parents of another student Aravind at Narsapur under Tarigoppula mandal.

Senior BJP leaders Perala Sekhar Rao, Marthineni Dharma Rao, Chintha Samba Murthy and Rao Amarender Reddy were among others present.
