Is PCC core committee lying dormant ?
The meetings of the extended core committee of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) are not being held in the past three months which has been proposed to be held every month in various parts of the State.
Hyderabad: The meetings of the extended core committee of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) are not being held in the past three months which has been proposed to be held every month in various parts of the State.
The core committee meetings to be headed by Telangana Congress incharge RC Khuntia have not been held since November. The TPCC is yet to renew the meetings in the district headquarters.
Sources in the party said that the core committee meetings have not been held as there is confusion on the TPCC president post. As there are reports that the PCC chief may be changed, present incumbent Uttam Kumar Reddy has not taken any initiative.
After the party's defeat in Huzurnagar by-poll, which was held in October, last year, Telangana party president N Uttam Kumar Reddy was reportedly not serious about the activities of the organisation.
He has offered to quit the PCC president post. As few leaders began lobbying for the PCC chief post with the AICC, Uttam confined himself to day-to-day activities of the party.
However, the AICC has not taken any decision on his successor and Uttam is continued in the PCC president's post. According to party leaders, the PCC president may not be changed until next month.
The Congress party has decided to hold extended core committee meetings every month to infuse confidence among the cadre in June last year in the district headquarters. The idea behind this is to see that district committees involve themselves in the party activities.
After two meetings in district headquarters, the core committee meetings have been held in Hyderabad in a limited manner. These meetings have been held on the programmes being given by the AICC and on the local body elections.
A party leader said that since the meetings of core committee have been held with limited scope, the objective of them was not achieved. He said that with no regular activity the cadre has been becoming inactive.
He stressed on the need to give programmes to the party workers and leaders so that the organisation is kept active. Core committee should review the situation in the State and give programmes to the rank and file of the party, he stated.
