Parishad elections in the district have taken a dramatic turn. Political parties are honing their strategies to prevent opponents from entering the fray. The elections in the district took a curious turn when Congress party’s ZP Chairperson’s nomination was turned down by the election authorities.

Congress party had announced that Sunitha Sampath was the candidate for ZP chairman post. She filed nomination for Yalal ZPTC seat. But the returning officer rejected her nomination. Congress leaders protested and appealed to the higher authorities, but in vain.
Sunitha served as the ZP Chairperson till now, and she is undisputed choice for the chairperson post in the party. Her husband is a popular doctor and they are financially in a good position. Congress was confident of her win. But this development boosted the main opponents and left the Congress cadre a dejected lot.
TRS is fielding Sunitha Mahender Reddy, the wife of former minister Patnam Mahender Reddy, as ZP chairperson candidate. Congress has to choose a strong candidate again as ZP chairperson candidate to compete with former minister's wife. After dramatic events, the district party president and Tandur MLA Rohit Reddy announced his mother's name as ZP chairperson candidate from the party.
The decision was taken by the district Congress committee on the recommendations of former minister G Prasadkumar and former MLA T Rammohan Reddy. The new choice of Congress, Pramodini Reddy filed her nomination for Vikarabad ZPTC seat. She is the best bet for Congress to counter the TRS move, which successfully halted the nomination of Sunitha. Pramodini Reddy also filed nomination at Kotpally.
Criticising the TRS for resorting to low-level politics, the Congress mandal president of Yalal, Bheemaiah, said that the ruling party leaders compelled Congress candidate Venkataiah Goud to withdraw nomination for MPTC post at Nagasamunder. People will teach a fitting lesson to TRS, he said.
Congress' quick reaction surprised the TRS cadre and they have to act equally. TRS announced Sunvarna Devi as their ZPTC candidate for Vikarabad to contest against Pramodini Reddy. Suvarna Devi had the experience of working as ZPTC for Nawabpet and as the president for Mandal Parishad.
She is the wife of G Nagender Goud, the chairman of Telangana State Education Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSEWIDC). On the other hand, Jayamma, the wife of Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah, filed nomination for ZPTC from Nawabpet.
Now, it's again between Rohit Reddy and Patnam Mahender Reddy, who fought in Assembly elections. Rohit could defeat the TRS Minister despite TRS sweeping the elections. Now, Rohit's mother is fighting against Mahender Reddy's wife for ZP chairperson post.
