Khammam: Only three days left for Khammam district to enter green zone from orange. May 18 is the day on which the district will enter green zone as per the Union government's guidelines.

For the last 25 days, no coronavirus positive case was reported in the district. Both the district administration and people are eagerly waiting for the day as they will get a few more relaxations.

The district administration including District Collector RV Karnan, Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal and District Medical and Health Officer Dr B Sumathi discharged restless efforts to avoid new corona cases since April 20.

Already neighbouring Bhadradri-Kothagudem district was announced as green zone and all shops and industries were started functioning. Both the district administrations are contemplating to operate few RTC buses in both districts as per norms.

The four positive patients in Kothagudem were discharged after treatment at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. Later eight positive cases were reported in Khammam district.

District administration set up four containment zones in Khilla, Pedda thanda, Motinagar and BK Bazar in the town and took stringent measures to stop the virus from spreading to rural areas.

Speaking to The Hans India, DM&HO Dr B Sumathi said the coming three days are very important as May 18 is the day the district to enter green zone from orange. She said as many as 1,800 migrant labourers reached the district and were ordered to stay under home quarantine.
