Kothagudem: As part of 72-hour nationwide strike in coal sector, leaders of all trade unions participated in the strike against the Central government's anti-workers' policies here on Friday, the second day of strike.

National trade unions AITUC, INTUC, CITU, IFTU, HMS and BMS leaders and workers staged protests in coal mines of Manuguru, Yellandu, Kothagudem area, supported by CPM, CPI and CPI (ML) leaders. Former MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, Venkat and other district leaders along with trade union leaders and SCCL workers staged a protest before the corporate office in Kothagudem. They demanded the BJP government at the Centre for immediate withdrawal of its decision to privatise coal mines. They criticised the Modi-led Central government for implementing anti-workers polices in the country for the last six years.

Earlier trade union leaders took out protest rallies along with raising anti-government slogans. On the second of the strike, about 60 per cent of workers had supported the strike, union leaders said. TBGKS affiliated to the TRS did not participate in the second day strike.
