Khammam: The bustling Khammam and Kothagudem districts wore a deserted look on Sunday since two cases were reported here on Saturday.
The second case was registered in the nearby mandal Aswapuram which triggered panic among the residents. On Sunday, people ventured out of their homes just to buy some necessary items that was also wearing masks and returned without mingling with others.
All the roads were witnessed were empty which showed how the people are scared of the virus that originated in China.
On the orders of the government all shopping malls, gyms and cinema halls were closed in the erstwhile district.
Therefore, no wine shops, malls and bars and shopping malls were opened and people preferred to remain indoors. The managements of the business complexes displayed the boards stating that due to coronavirus there closed the outlets. Similarly, no one was seen at the chicken shops which are usually crowded on Sundays. Only few people were seen in the fish market and mutton shops. Meanwhile Bhadradri-Kothagudem Joint Collector K Venkateswaralu conducted a meeting with District Medical Health Officer Bhasker Naik and other medical officials on Saturday night and reviewed the situation in mandals. They also conducted special drive in Aswapuram mandal which registered the second corona Case in the State.
On the other hand, Bhadradir-Kothagudem District Collector Dr M V Reddy appealed to the people to take all precautions against the coronavirus. He said everyone should take preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus. The district administration has ready taken actions in this regard.
He also asked the people to give details of the people who have come from various countries for conducting screening tests.
He informed all the schools, shopping malls, pubs, gyms, cinema halls are closed till March 31 in the district. Similarly, all the wine shops and clubs are closed till March 21 to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Collector also ordered the sanitary staff to clean toilets in the bus stands and railway stations.
He also ordered officials monitoring conditions in all villages. At the same he appealed to the people no to panic and don't believe in rumours on the virus.
As a precautionary measure, the district administration cancelled the Grievance Day programmes to conducted on every Monday in both districts.
A meeting will be conducting with all officers to review the condition with regard to coronavirus, added Collectors RV Karnan and MV Reddy.
Khammam District Collector RV Karnan has also conducted special meeting with all the officers and reviewd the situation.
He said the Khammam main hospital is prepared to any emergency to deal with the deadly virus. He also ordered officers to send minute to minute updates and observe the situation all mandals in the district.
