Yet Durgam Nirmala,who lives at Jangedu inJayashankar Bhupalpally, a predominantly tribal district, has made it to the Sub-inspector job. It was adream come true for Doddapuneni Sandeep Kumar as well. Sandeep, a resident of Yerraboinapally village in Khammam district, who could notmake it to the SI job in 2016,

clinched it this time around. Thanks to the Sumarg, a free coaching programme to prepare youth appearing for the competitive exams initiated by Warangal Police Commissionerate three years ago.

Not just Nirmala and Sandeep, there are more than 30 others belonging to economically weaker sections owe a lot to Warangal Police for its initiative to provide free coaching besides supplying study material. The brainchild behind the Sumarg was the then Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu. He initiated the programme in 2016 in a bid to give substance to the employment dreams of those less fortunate, engaging subject experts from Hyderabad.

The first success of the Sumarg came when as many as 121 candidates of the total 220 who were trained under the programme got selected for onstable jobs in 2017. In the following months, as many as 45 candidates trained under the Sumarg have got selected for Subinspector jobs.

In the latest recruitment also, candidates trained under Sumarg programme achieved a stupendous success. Commissioner of Police V Ravinder who met the successful candidates told them to continue their hard work to achieve more success in their careers.Speaking to The Hans India, Durgam Nirmala said: "Sumarg is of immense help to those who can't afford to get coaching in private institutions.I owe a lot to the Warangal

Police Commissionerate which not only provided training but also gave courage to candidates like me to withstand pressure of competitive world."

Expressing similar opinion,Sandeep said: "I came to know about Sumarg through a social networking site. Earlier in 2016, I failed in the events. The expertise provided by the Sumarg coaching unit saw me through this time around. The authorities not only gave us study material but also provided lunch during the training." The Sumarg also helped 30 odd youth in getting panchayat secretary, village revenue officer,Forest department etc.
