Mahbubnagar: CPI leaders and workers will stage protests against illegal construction of Potireddypadu lift irrigation project Andhra Pradesh government, across the State on Wednesday (June 10).
The CPI leaders from Mahbubnagar district said that they would go on a one-day strike in front of all Tahasildar offices on June 10 in the State.
Taking up the discussion on the illegal construction of Potireddypadu lift irrigation project by Andhra Pradesh government, they lamented the casual attitude of the Telangana government and alleged that the Chief Minister KCR is having no interest in providing water to the farm lands of south Telangana districts.
CPI Telangana State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said that Chief Minister KCR is having least interest on the southern Telangana. Even though Andhra Pradesh is lifting excess waters through Potireddypadu Lift irrigation to other areas other than Krishna basin to Rayalaseema, the Telangana government is doing nothing to stop the AP government.
"The Krishna River which travels in Mahbubnagar more than 300 kilometers, but the share of water the people of this region have in it is very meager, while Rayalaseema, which is far away from Krishna River basin, the AP government is lifting excess waters and doing injustice to the farmers of Southern Telangana. We are demanding the Telangana government to immediately call all- party meeting and take advice of all political leaders in the state and take up a big agitation against the AP government to stop its moves. "
"But the Telangana CM is going smooth against the AP government. If the TRS government does not take any action we will go ahead and stage protest in front of all tahsildar offices in Telangana and press the state government to exert pressure on AP government to take back the GO 203," said Chada Venkat Reddy.
Chada Venkat reddy alleged that right from the beginning TRS and the Chief Minister KCR giving step motherly treatment to Mahabubnagar region. Despite the region was under severe drought for decades and the district regarded as India's highest migratory labour district, the present government continued to ignore the region, observed Reddy.
