A tribal scholar from Gollapally village of Jadcherla mandal in Mahbubnagar district received his Doctoral degree at a convocation programme organised by Osmania University in Hyderabad on Monday.

Mahbubnagar: A tribal scholar from Gollapally village of Jadcherla mandal in Mahbubnagar district received his Doctoral degree at a convocation programme organised by Osmania University in Hyderabad on Monday.

Anil Kumar Pathlavath, the PhD scholar, had taken up research on the topic of 'Participatory Video (PV) and Its Impact on Communities (A Study of Community Video Units)' under Mass Communication and Journalism subject and successfully completed his thesis. He was guided by Professor Balaswamy, from the department of Communication and Journalism.

Speaking to The Hans India, Anil Kumar said that it was a great honour to have received the doctoral degree and said that he was looking forward to do post-doctoral research in various related areas.

Hailing from a tribal background and from a small village in Jadcherla mandal, Anil Kumar had earlier pursued post-graduation in Mass Communication in Hyderabad Central University.

At present, Anil Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor in Christ University in Bengaluru of Karnataka. Earlier, he had worked as a freelancer and also did documentary films and involved in projects like CAMP (Children As Media Producers). He has also directed and edited three documentaries and trained over 100 people in video making skills.
