Malkajgiri: D Nagendra Prasad, a resident of Mallikarjuna Nagar of Gautham Nagar division, has been suffering from brain tumour for the past few months.
Unable to afford the expensive medical treatment, the kin of the patient approached local corporator Shirisha Jithender Reddy and TRS division president Kolumula Lakshman for financial assistance. They in turn took the issue to the notice of the MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao. On the advice of MLA, TRS leaders applied for financial assistance under the CM Relief Fund.
A letter of credit (LEC) was issued sanctioning Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance. On Monday, Jithender Reddy handed over the LEC to Nagendra Prasad. Jithender Reddy personally gave him Rs 10,000 as financial assistance and promised to extend the necessary support to the family for medical treatment.
Former corporator Y Prem Kumar, Gautham Nagar division president Kolumula Lakshman, Venkanna, colony association president D Venkataiah, Veeresham, Sriramu Yadav, Santhosh Ramdas and others were present on the occasion.
