A 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl near Ramalayam at Wanaparthy.
The girl's mother took her to a hospital as she was bleeding and learned about the incident. The girl's father, who was out of the town confronted the accused after returning home. But, he was thrashed by the family of the miscreant.
It is learned that the accused tried to strike a compromise with Wanaparthy police with the girl's parents.
However, the miscreant was taken into custody after the matter brought to the notice of SP Apoorva Rao. According to the police, he got married twice and his second wife had allegedly ended her life in 2013.
