Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao held a marathon meeting with the HMDA officials at Buddha Bhavan here on Thursday.

In the meeting, Minister discussed the steps to be taken for the development and beautification of Hussain Sagar, Durgam Cheruvu and Gandipet lakes.

Minister reviewed the master plans prepared by consultants. He stated that the master plans should be prepared in a way that it retains the natural beauty of the lakes and at the same time, provide facilities to the people.

Minister approved the proposals of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to build a park on the banks of Gandipet lake. He asked the officials to start the works immediately. He also instructed the officials to prepare proposals to develop 40 Kilometer walking and cycling tracks around the Gandipet lake.

Minister also reviewed the status of the HMDA layouts works in Kokapet. He asked the officials to improve road connectivity to the areas of Kollur and Kokapet keeping in mind the increasing population.

During the meeting, Minister KTR asked the officials to ensure the logistics parks being developed by the HMDA have all the amenities to meet the increasing demand for logistics.

Minister also looked into the proposals for the Hyderabad Habitat Centre which will be constructed by the HMDA. He said that the habitat center should have all the facilities to conduct art and cultural events.

Minister instructed the officials to identify locations for construction of convention centers similar to the Hitex Convention center in areas such as Uppal and Medchal.

Soon, a high-level meeting will be called for, chaired by Minister KTR and Forest Minister. Public representatives and concerned officials under HMDA limits will take part in the meeting where an action plan to increase the green cover in the region will be discussed.

Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan, MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar EVDM Director Viswajit Kampati and senior officials participated.
