Nalgonda: District Additional Superintendent of Police Padmanabha Reddy stated that as many as 107 children working as child labour were rescued in July in Nalgonda district under Operation Muskaan by the district police.

On Friday, he released a press statement in Nalgonda and informed that following the instructions of Director General of Police Mahender Reddy, the Operation Muskaan was carried out in the district and three teams constituting police personnel and officials of allied departments took part in operation.

On a tipoff, sudden checks were carried out at different places in the district and 107 children rescued and produced before the Child Protection Committee for further action. The district police have registered as many as 50 cases against the owners who engaged children as labourers in their organisations and establishments. Of the 107 rescued, 39 were identified as natives of other States.

The ASP, in his press statement, warned of taking stringent action against persons who engage children in work.

He informed that the details of missing children cases across the country would be updated on Darpan app regularly.

The ASP, meanwhile, appreciated Inspector Prabhakar Reddy and other police personnel and officials of allied government departments who played a key role in the success of Operation Muskaan in the district.
