Hyderabad: As many as 18 police stations in Hyderabad will get new buildings, said Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy adding that the state government has granted funds for the construction of new police station buildings.

The DGP who participated in the inaugural ceremony of new Karkhana police station said that some of the police stations being run were built at the Nizam rule. "The government has allotted budget for construction of 19 new police stations in the city. While the construction of Karkhana police station has been completed, the remaining 18 will be completed soon," the DGP said. He also said that they set up 6.5 lakh CCTV cameras in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates with the government's support and encouragement of people.

Hyderabad commissioner of police, Anjani Kumar said that the city police have been number one in issuing passports in Hyderabad for the last four years. "The crime rate has come down this year when compared to 2019. The criminals are able to get caught easily through CCTV cameras and at least 95 people were sent to jail under PD act. Also, during the COVID-19 crisis, the police have worked hard to send migrant workers home through more than 100 special trains," he said.

Home Minister Mahmood Ali inaugurated the new Karkhana police station building on Wednesday. Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Ch Malla Reddy were also present on the occasion.

Last week, a police station building has been inaugurated by minister Harish Rao in Markook of Siddipet district.
