After several efforts by the people of Nawabpet, funds for construction of a burial ground were sanctioned. The foundation stone was laid by then deputy speaker Padma Devender Reddy and minister Harish Rao on June 6, 2018.

The details about the project was clearly mentioned on the inscription that estimation value was about Rs 4.36 lakh and the grants were released from 14th finance commission for the year 2016-17.

Engineering officials said they commenced works after calling for tenders. But the condition of the burial ground was deplorable. There are no proper facilities for performing final rites.

Residents of Nawabpet are lamenting that they are not able to use the burial ground as it is left dysfunctional. Bushes and trees have grown all over the ground. People are expressing anger over the negligent attitude of the officials.

On the other hand, it is alleged that lakhs of rupees were sanctioned for the construction of the burial ground. Some activists question how much amount was spent for construction and how effective it was? They appeal authorities to look into the matter and ensure public money was not wasted.
