Officials told to be aware of rules of local body polls
Keeping in view of the coming up ZPTC and MPTC elections, Joint Collector Yasmine Basha on Wednesday ordered the officials concerned to know the rules and regulations for conducting elections on a smooth note.

She held a meeting with nodal officers, DSPs and MPDOs to discuss about the conducting ZPTC and MPTC elections, at the Collectorate here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the meeting, the JC said there will be one district-level officer as a returning officer for each mandal for conducting ZPTC elections and two to three gazetted officers will act as returning officers for conducting MPTC elections.
The returning officers for MPTC elections will act as assistants to returning officers of MPTC elections. Superintendent-level officials will assist the returning officers of MPTC polls.
It is the responsibility of the returning officers to look after publishing of notification, receiving nominations, scrutiny, withdrawal, final list displaying, allotting symbols, postal ballot, inspection of ballot boxes, polling centres, identification of risk prone areas, implementation of model code of conduct along with giving training to police and finally to conduct counting process perfectly.
ZPTC and MPTC elections will be held on party wise basis. The elections will be held for 12 ZPTCs and 123 MPTCs in the district in three phases. It is the responsibility of the returning officers to conduct the elections on a smooth note without giving any scope for irregularities.
The JC appealed the people to dial toll free number 1950 for any complaints, feedback or any suggestions and advises.
