A prisoner who was awarded life imprisonment has committed suicide at Nizamabad jail on Wednesday.

Venkatesh, a native of Arugonda village of Rajampeta mandal in Kamareddy hanged himself with a towel from the prison window. The jail officials have launched an inquiry.

On June 21, a prisoner at Ahmedabad's Sabarmati central jail committed suicide by jumping in front of a jail van. Pratap K Thakur was convicted in his wife's murder in 2014 by a Visnagar court.
