Devarakonda/Kodad: An RTC driver, Tummalapally Jaipal Reddy, of Devarakonda depot in the district died due to cardiac arrest on Monday morning. Jaipal Reddy was staying with his family members in Hyderabad. According to sources, he participated in a protest conducted by RTC JAC at the Devarakonda depot on Sunday and later, went to his native place Pagidipally of Nampally mandal in the district. He suffered cardiac arrest Monday early morning and succumbed. The kin of Jaipal Reddy died while being shifted to a private hospital in Devarakonda.

After coming to know about the death, the RTC JAC leaders, workers and leaders of opposition parties along with the dead body of driver Jaipal Reddy staged a dharna before the Devarakonda bus depot and also conducted a rastaroko.

Speaking on the occasion, the RTC JAC leaders accused the government for the death of corporation workers and demanded Rs 25 lakh compensation and also a government job for the bereaved family members.

Meanwhile, RTC workers of Kodad depot expressing their concern over death of Jaipal Reddy obstructed the bus services in the bus stand. A war of words broke out between the RTC workers and the police who resisted the RTC workers. The buses services at the Kodad bus stand resumed after the protesting workers were arrested by the police.
