Hyderabad: Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said the State government is actively considering on humanitarian grounds on the issue of transfers to the contract lecturers and also discussing on the introduction of pre-primary education in the primary schools.

Responding on the issues raised by the members cutting across the party lines, the Minister said that the issue of parents sending their children below the age group of three to five years to private schools is under discussion at the national level as well as State level. The State government had also sent its views to the Centre on the issue, she said.

Regarding the transfers of contract lectures, she said the system was started in the year 2000 and it is continuing. The Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has assured to resolve the issue and the State government is firm on this issue.

However, due to the pending cases in court, the same could not be resolved. She said that the government is ready to discuss the issue with other members to resolve it and also suggested those filed cases to withdraw the cases so that it could be resolved at the earliest.

The Minister reminded how the State government had enhanced the salaries of the contract lecturers of junior and degree colleges to provide them with some relief. Also, extending 60 days of maternity leave for the women working in the colleges.
