A three-member committee appointed by the Supreme Court has arrived in Hyderabad today to investigate Disha encounter case.

A three-member committee appointed by the Supreme Court has arrived in Hyderabad today to investigate Disha encounter case. The committee consists of retired judge VS Sirpurkar, Rekha (former CJ of Bombay high court), former CBI officer Karthikeyan.

The court also provided CRPF security to the committee during its visit to the Hyderabad. The team was asked to investigate the case and submit a report within six months from the date of the hearing.

The four accused - Mohammad Arif, Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, Jollu Siva and Jollu Naveen in the Disha rape and murder were killed in an encounter in Shadnagar. The police said that the accused tried to escape from the spot while recreating the crime scene and also attacked the policemen who retaliated and shot them.

The committee will be residing in Hyderabad during the investigation and all the expenses including for secretarial staff will be borne by the Telangana government. The inquiry was ordered after two petitions filed by lawyers GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav seeking probe against the police officers involved in the encounter.
