Seven held for robbing 3.6 crore from gold trader
Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) police along with the Shadnagar police on Wednesday arrested a seven member interstate highway robbery gang from Maharashtra.
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) police along with the Shadnagar police on Wednesday arrested a seven member interstate highway robbery gang from Maharashtra. The police claimed to have recovered Rs 2.89 crore, gold ornaments weighing 350 grams, a toy pistol and a car from the possession of the accused.
According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, the prime accused B Vishwajeet Chandrakanth (21) along with his associates Mayuresh Manohar Pisal (22), Sujatha Ramesh Ghare (35), Akash Kamble (23), Sunny Chavan (21) Akash Deepak Rathode (20), Sunitha Chandrakanth Bhosle (39) robbed his employer of Rs 3.6 crore by threatening him at a point of a toy pistol at Shadnagar here in the last week of June.
The victim Raju Nangre, who is a gold businessman, procures gold at cheaper price from different parts of Kerala and transport the same to different cities, including Hyderabad and Mumbai by his cars. He also engaged employees to sells the gold at higher price.
Mayuresh was Raju Nangre's driver. Raju Nangre used to send Mayuresh and the 'collection boy' to hand over gold to customers and collect money from difference places, including Hyderabad and Mumbai.
About 30 persons are being employed by him for his business purpose and the employees use to visit Hyderabad market twice or thrice in a week for transporting the gold and cash by his cars.
About three months ago, Mayuresh went to his native place Bhiwandi and met the other accused and hatched a plan under to intercept the car of his master between Mumbai and Kerala or Hyderabad and Kerala and steal the cash from the car.
Accordingly, on June 21, the accused Vishwajeet purchased a gas lighter, which resembled the pistol in order to threaten the driver of the car to rob the cash along with his gang.
On June 26 night, the gang reached to the Dhashmesh Dhaba, near Raikal toll plaza in Shadnagar and waited for the vehicle of Raju Nangre carrying cash from Hyderabad to Kerala State. The suspects intercepted the vehicle and forcibly seized it by threatening the drivers with the gas lighter and hijacked the car to Balanagar. They allegedly fled with Rs 3.67 crore, the police said.
