Nagarkurnool: Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy launched the tunnel works under Package-4 of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in Satapur village of Peddakottapally mandal on Wednesday.

Taking part in the ground-breaking ceremony, the Minister said that as the Kaleshwaram project has been completed and its fruits were being extended to the northern Telangana, now the State government has shifted its focus to southern Telangana and was determined to complete the largest lift Irrigation project of the country, the PRRLI. As part of this, the Minister said the government has decided to speed up all the ongoing works and the pending works on priority basis.

"The government is now focusing on speeding up the construction of PRRLI works. All those works which have been halted due to various reasons will now be taken up on priority and very soon the government is determined to complete the works and provide irrigation waters to more than 12 lakh acres in the district," said Singireddy Niranjan Reddy.

The Minister said that already the State government had completed all the pending projects and providing irrigation water to 8 lakh acres in the district. If the PRRLI project was completed, almost more than 20 lakh acres under the district would be provided irrigation waters, observed the Minister.
