Hyderabad: The State Congress leaders and the cadre are left in utter confusion over the developments in All India Congress Committee (AICC) which took place after the announcement of the results of the Parliament elections in last month.

AICC president Rahul Gandhi has offered his resignation to the post and the efforts of the AICC office bearers to convince him to withdraw the proposal have not yet seen any positive results. Confusion has crept into the minds of the State Congress leaders and workers as the resignation episode is prolonged. They thought that Rahul would withdraw his resignation and continue as president of the party a week after his announcement. However, even three weeks after announcing his decision, Rahul has clung to it. This has put them in confusion.

The State Congress leaders are expecting that the confusion on the leadership of the AICC would end soon. A secretary of AICC from Telangana told The Hans India they are expecting a breakthrough in two or three days.

The leader said they could not accept the resignation of Rahul as it would damage the party. He said, "entire Congress from booth level to Working Committee wants Rahul to continue as president of the party." He said it is for Rahul Gandhi to decide on whether to continue as party president or not.

The leader said that the party has seen lot of ups and downs. The party lost the elections even during the regime of Indira Gandhi, he reminded.The leader said the party's rank and file is in confusion over the decision to be taken by Rahul Gandhi on his resignation.
