The PSPD unit personnel of ITC Ltd on Thursday joined hands for 'Swachhata Hi Seva' Awareness programme, in the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, against single-use and for ‘plastic free India’ at the unit in Bollaram in Sangareddy district.

Patancheru: The PSPD unit personnel of ITC Ltd on Thursday joined hands for 'Swachhata Hi Seva' Awareness programme, in the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, against single-use and for 'plastic free India' at the unit in Bollaram in Sangareddy district.

A M V Shankar, the unit head, released an awareness presentation document on Swachhata Hi Seva Initiatives– which was screened for the staff. He said that the cleanliness mission was an issue which had been appreciably taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shankar urged the Staff to motivate their friends, peers, parents and relatives to maintain cleanliness.

G Shashegiri, unit HR head, stated that, "the programme was for the welfare of the staff, people, society and nation," and added that, "keeping one's own place and the surroundings clean is a human obligation and social duty." K Bhavani Shankar, production head, emphasised on changing people's mindset for keeping the surroundings clean.

"It is not the duty of only municipal workers, but also the responsibility of every person." D Ganesh Babu, engineering head, and Laxminarayanan, head-finance, stressed on segregation of household wastes as the first and as a mandatory step in the war on plastic. Ch Niranjan Rao, EHS head, briefed the participants about the Swachhata Hi Seva, awareness programme. Later, a demonstration of waste segregation procedure was conducted in the unit.
