Osmania University: Akhila Bharatha Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Vidhyarthi Seva Samithi (VSS) jointly organised a symposium on 'National Education Policy 2019' at OU Distance Education auditorium here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, a member of NEP-2019 (New Education Policy-2019), Professor MK Sridhar, said that the new policy would provide opportunity to students to learn more Indian languages. Similarly, efforts are being made to protect the Indian languages which are on the verge of extinction through the new policy, he said. The new policy provides an opportunity to students to learn a minimum of three languages and a maximum of five languages, he said.

Emphasising the need for treating higher education as special education rather than alternative education, he said that professional education has been brought under the purview of higher education. New education police would act as guardian of different education systems, from higher education to primary education and from professional education to technical education, he said.

The symposium was held in five sessions and several professors expressed their opinion on the new education policy. About 250 professors, academicians, research students and others participated in the symposium.
