According to her family members, the woman who was mentally unstable has a habit of eating hair regularly and was shown to the doctor in the recent past after she experienced severe stomach pain. The doctors who carried out an extensive clinical examination has found a hairball in the woman's stomach and advised surgery.
The hairball weighing 2.5 kg has been removed by the doctors and succeeded in the operation. The woman was kept under medical observation.
It was in 2017, the doctors of Kerala performed a surgery on a 15-year-old girl who had complained of severe abdominal pain and removed a 2 kg hairball from the stomach.
