Hyderabad: In a record, the Telangana government released Rs 5,290 crore and deposited the same in 50 lakh farmers' accounts under Rythu Bandhu scheme on a single day, Monday.

Perhaps, it is first time in the last two years that such a big amount has been deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in a single day. The cash incentive scheme was launched in 2018. Due to financial constraints, the government could extend the benefit to not more than 60 per cent of the total farmers in the last two years.

Despite the revenues dropped all time low in the State, the government managed to mobilize the funds and extended the benefit to all farmers in the current farming season. It required Rs 7,000 crore under Rythu Bandhu in every agriculture season. Rs 2,000 crore was already released recently, State Finance Minister T Harish Rao said.
