Telangana: Over 56 lakh Bathukamma sarees distributed so far
- With around 2.80 sarees being distributed at 340 centres, Bhadradri-Kothagudem secured top place
- The saree distribution programme will be continued until October 7, 2019
So far, the Telangana government has distributed around 56.45 lakh Bathukamma sarees across the state. The distribution of sarees was commenced on September 23. However, the process was interrupted due to the heavy rainfall across Telangana last week, and the government decided to extend the programme for a few more days.
It is aimed to distributed 1.02 crore sarees this year which were prepared by the 16,000 weavers of Sircilla. Currently, the saree distribution programme is being run across 6800 centres while the schedule was deferred due to the election code at Huzurnagar.
With around 2.80 sarees being distributed at 340 centres, Bhadradri-Kothagudem secured top place followed by Jagtial, Rangareddy, Rajanna-Sircilla, Asifabad, Jangaon, Wanaparthy, Siddipet, Peddapalli and Medchal.
The saree distribution programme will be continued until October 7, 2019.
