In the wake of the surge in coronavirus cases, the textile traders at General Bazar have decided to shut down all the shops till July 5.

Hyderabad: In the wake of the surge in coronavirus cases, the textile traders at General Bazar have decided to shut down all the shops till July 5.

The general bazaar silk cloth merchant's association issued a notice on Wednesday in which they stated all the traders have decided to close shops from June 25 to July 25 due to the rise in the cases in the area. "Safety of our customers and our team is our utmost priority," the notice said.

"The decision comes after soaring coronavirus cases in the area and we don't want to take any chances," Arvind who runs a textile shop said.

It is learned that the closure is only applicable to Saree and other textile shops. "We have to take care of ourselves in the current scenario and hopefully we will be back in the business by the July first week," a trader said.

The state on Sunday crossed 10,000-mark in the total number of coronavirus cases. Around 891 new cases were recorded out of which 719 from GHMC area.
