Khammam: The district unit of Communist Party of India has accused the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi of encouraging politics of blackmail. Addressing the media in Khammam on Wednesday, CPI State assistant secretary and former MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao criticised the TRS government's policies. He said after coming to power, the ruling party has miserably failed in keeping its poll promises and also failed to implement welfare schemes. Adding that the TRS was deliberately prolonging the constructions of irrigation projects in State, Kunamneni alleged that the pink party was focusing only on staying in power instead of working for people's welfare and growth of the State.

Kunamneni called on party workers and activists to fight against the polices of TRS government. Stating that CPI remains strong in erstwhile Khammam district, he told the party leaders to work for the development of the party in the district. Party State committee member Bagam Hemanth Rao called for conducting protests against the government.

Later, the party elected Potu Prasad as new district secretary along with 59 members and 21 secretariat members, who took charge on Wednesday. Speaking after the programme, Potu Prasad expressing happiness appealed to the party leaders to make the State committee meeting to be held from February 22 to 24 at Mancherial in Adilabad district a grand success.

Party leaders SK Janimiya, Jitender Reddy, Mohammad Salam, T Venkateswara Rao, Kalavathi, Latha Devi and others attended the meeting.
