  • KCR running a money lenders government to fleece Rs 300 crore through excess power bills, says State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Hyderabad: Launching a vitriolic attack on TRS government, State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has thrown the administration to the winds and fleecing the people like a money lender.

He was addressing the media after the police arrested him foiling the party's attempt to organise a Chalo Vidyut Soudha programme to stage a protest against the excess power bills. The Karimnagar MP lashed out at the Chief Minister for implementing unjust and unscientific methods to trouble the poor and the middle-class people in the State by slapping inflated power bills. Earlier, police personnel in large number were deployed at the State BJP headquarters and the BJP MP and other key party leaders were arrested as soon as they came out to proceed to the Vidyut Saodha.

The BJP MP said that using police, resorting to arrests would not deter the party to continue its stir till the government scraps the excess power charges slapped on people at a time they have been facing a financial crisis due to the three months of lockdown.

He alleged that the State government is trying to make holes in the people's pockets to fill its coffers by adopting a strange method of arriving at power tariff changes taking an average of three months of power consumption.

He said 1.15 core people in the State consume below 200 units of power in a month. But, instead of extending good governance to resolve the difficulties of the people in the times of crisis, the State government is behaving like a money lender and following the methods of a private finance company to collect about Rs 300 crore from the people, he alleged.

Meanwhile, former BJP State president Dr K Laxman, BJP MPs Dharmapuri Aravind, Soyam Bapur Rao, MLA Raja Singh, MLC N Ramachander Rao, former MLA and senior BJP leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, former MP Vivek Venkataswamy were taken into custody by the police.
