TRS membership is not genuine: Laxman
The insurance cover for Rs 2 lakh was the bait thrown by the TRS to beef up its membership, BJP State president K Laxman said.
Warangal: The insurance cover for Rs 2 lakh was the bait thrown by the TRS to beef up its membership, BJP State president K Laxman said. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that while the TRS functionaries have been trying to draw the people by enticing them with life insurance coverage, the BJP has not thrown such baits to attract the masses to become members of the party.
"Whoever taking membership of the BJP is based on the workmanship of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Be it the scrapping of Article 370 that revoked special status to Jammu and Kashmir or other monumental decisions such as demonetisation, GST etc, the people extended their support to BJP Government and it was evident in the Lok Sabha elections," Laxman said.
He said that the BJP State unit is set to cross its target membership drive of 18 lakhs soon. It's already crossed 10 lakh mark, he added.
Laxman, who was here to take part in the ongoing membership drive in the Warangal city, said that the TRS government failed miserably even in handling the intermediate results. Stating that the President of India Ram Nath Kovind had sought a report on suicides of 27 students, he said that there was no governance in the State.
While people in rural areas are suffering from viral fevers and other contagious diseases due to lack facilities in the State-run hospitals, the government turned a blind eye, Laxman alleged.
The TRS leaders, who were unable to digest the growing popularity of BJP, were resorting to mudslinging, he said.
It's ridiculous to see KT Rama Rao speak about religious tolerance while his father and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao spares MIM leaders even though they make provocative speeches on Hinduism. He said that people of Karimnagar taught a lesson to KCR by defeating his party candidate. The BJP has plans to reach out people with a slogan to liberate the Telangana from the family rule of KCR.
Laxman said that BJP national president Amit Shah's inclination to get party membership from Telangana is an indication that party has its focus on Telugu State. Warangal urban district president Rao Padma Reddy, State party in-charge of membership drive and former MLA M Dharma Rao, former minister Gunde Vijayarama Rao and former MLA Vannala Sriramulu were among others present.
