However, when they take up the reins of their respective ZPs, in July first week, empty coffers would greet them. Neither the Centre nor the State government has any provision to give funds to them in this financial year.
The funds to be granted by the Centre through the Finance Commission would go directly to the Gram Panchayats. Though the state government established its own Finance Commission, it is yet to give its recommendations.
The state government has not been taking the Backward Regions Grant Fund from the Centre stating that Telangana was rich state which should have gone to the ZPs and MPPs. With this there is no way for the ZPs to get funds.
The state government has promised funds to the ZPs and MPPs, but it has to allocate them in the budget. The state budget session may be held in August and till then, they have to function with available funds.
