Karimnagar: The BJP government, which introduced workers' amendment bill in the Lok Sabha, is against the rights of all workers working in various sectors, alleged the representatives of various working unions.

As part of the call given by the national and State working unions, the representatives of various working unions staged a dharna in protest against the BJP government for introducing the workers amendment bill in the Parliament, in front of the Collectorate here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, they alleged that the bill is supporting the contractors and owners, who can misuse and rob the freedom of innocent workers. By bringing amendments in the wage board, health and work safety acts of workers, the BJP government is directly attacking the weaker section, that is working section present across the country. Disregarding severe protest against the bill, the BJP government took the decision by over-looking the appeals made by several working unions, they criticised.

The Central government deciding the daily wages as Rs 178 per day against the suggestions of Rs 580 is purely injustice to the working sections. Even though the Supreme Court had given orders to pay equal money for equal work as per the judgment given in 2016, the Central government took the decision without consulting the working sections, they alleged.

The members stated that the bill that was introduced is killing the right to form a union, right of negotiation, right to oppose wrong decisions and right to do strike against to the harassments of managements of the organsiations which is not correct.

They demanded withdrawal of the bill immediately, otherwise they would intensify the agitations and would teach the government a fitting lesson, they warned.

The representatives of the CITU, AITUC, HMS, INTUC, IFTU, AIUTUC, TNTUC, TRSKV, CCGEW, AIDEF, BANKING and INSURANCE working unions participated in the dharna.
