Hyderabad: Two popular NGOs - India Foundation and Social Cause - have come together to organise jointly a seminar on “21st Century Terrorism – Challenges for India.” The seminar was held on Sunday at Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in city.
Book on "Global Terrorism Challenges and Policy Options”, authored by Shakti Sinha and Maj Gen (Dr) Dhruv C Katoch, was released on this occasion. In his opening remarks, Dr K Aravind Rao, former Director General of Police, said terrorism in India is of 3 types - Left Wing terrorism, terrorism by separatists and sponsored terrorism from outside India. It is difficult to talk about terrorism because we do not know who is behind whom.
Keeping a close watch on the terror groups and addressing fundamental problems could check the terrorist activities. Padmasri awardee Lt Gen Mohammed Zaki, former advisor to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, said that Indian Army is the best in the world. Taliban and Al-Qaeda could not make any dent into our security. Indian Army is capable of facing any challenges. Sharing his views on the subject, Maj Gen Dhruv C Katoch said:
``We have been finding it difficult to pass a simple definition on terrorism. We should not shy away from calling Islam terrorism as it is said Tamil terrorism in Sri Lanka.’’ Author of the book Shakthi Sinha, quoting Hillary Clinton, said ``You cannot nurture snakes in your backyard and expect them to bite neighbours only.’’
