Ongole: Andhra Pradesh State Women Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma flagged off the Mahila March, 100 days programme awareness rally, from the Collectorate in Ongole on Friday evening.

Addressing on the occasion, she said that the State government has taken many measures for the safety and empowerment of the women. To provide awareness on various schemes and programmes launched by the State government to uphold the rights, provide protection and assist in the development of women, the March is being conducted, she said.

Padma announced that the government is launching the 100 days Mahila March program up to the Women's Day on March 8, 2021, to create awareness and boost the morale of women. She said that they are trying to create awareness from the village level and are visiting various State-sponsored homes regularly.

Speaking to media at the NSP guest house, Padma said that youth are infatuating towards the world 'love' even before they are becoming majors. She said that she was shocked to see the video of minors marrying in a classroom. She assured that the girl will get care by the government, though the boy and girl committed a big mistake. She also announced that the government will provide counselling to the girl and her parents who have thrown her out of the home.

Padma said that the government is acting strictly on the atrocities on women. They are analysing the incidents happening and happened after Disha and will convey the details gathered from various organisations to the government. She said that the government will continue to take measures to control women trafficking and drug transport and are conducting a seminar on the same topic in Ongole on Saturday.
