As part of the first 100 km cycle ride jointly organised by Amaravati Randonneurs and Vijayawada Randonneurs Clubs here on Saturday, about 42 cyclists took part in the event.

Vijayawada: As part of the first 100 km cycle ride jointly organised by Amaravati Randonneurs and Vijayawada Randonneurs Clubs here on Saturday, about 42 cyclists took part in the event. The event was flagged off by Vijaya Hospital Director Dr Sarat.

Audax India Randonneurs (AIR), an all-India organisation of randonneurs, has recently added 100 and 150 km bicycle ride to bring more enthusiasm to cyclists. The cyclists covered a distance of 100 km by proceeding to (beyond) Guntur and later took a U-turn and headed back towards Vijayawada and reached the finishing point Pedal Zone at PVP Mall.

In Andhra Pradesh, these two clubs are promoting long distance cycling with over 100 events organised till date successfully, according to Amaravati Randonneurs representative BS Kiran.
