Machilipatnam: As many as 29 students were selected under Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena scheme in Krishna and NTR districts. Rs 1.46 crore was given to 17 students from NTR district and Rs 1.11 crore was given to 12 students from Krishna district. The Krishna and NTR district Collectors handed over specimen cheques to the students at their respective Collector offices on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishna district Collector P Ranjith Basha said that the government will credit the amount in four instalments in the students' accounts, who wish to study abroad under this scheme.

NTR district Collector S Dilli Rao said the Jagananna Videshi Vidya scheme is a boon to poor students, who want to study post graduate courses abroad. He informed that the government sanctioned the amount to the students, who studied in top 200 universities across the world.

State Planning Board Chairman and Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, VMC Mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi, MLC Mondithoka Arun Kumar, Ruhulla, T Kalpalatha Reddy, Gouda Corporation chairman Madu Sivarama Krishna and RTC Regional Chairman Tatineni Padmavati attended the function in NTR district. Krishna ZP Chairperson Uppala Harika, District Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Jamalamma and others participated in the programme in Krishna district.
