5 cops suspended for dereliction of duty: SP R Jaya Lakshmi
City Rural SP R Jaya Lakshmi suspended three constables and two home guards for dereliction of their duties and issued orders to this effect on Tuesday.
Guntur : City Rural SP R Jaya Lakshmi suspended three constables and two home guards for dereliction of their duties and issued orders to this effect on Tuesday. According to officials, four constables and the home guards, on night patrolling duty two- days ago, stopped their vehicle on the roadside and were sleeping in a rice mill in Narasaraopet town.
According to police, three local youth Jani Mastan, Khaja Kareem and Khajavali, took photo of the cops and uploaded the same in the social media which went viral. The cops who took the matter seriously, shifted the youth to Narasaraopet Two Town Police Station and severely beat them.
The victims lodged a complaint and based on the complaint, police registered the case and took up investigation. After getting primary report, Narasraopet DSP Rama Varma recommended departmental action against the cops. Further, the Rural SP Jaya Lakshmi suspended the cops and issued orders.
