Amaravati: Socio-Economic Survey presents rosy picture
Foresees 2019-20 GSDP at 8.16 per cent above national growth
Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Monday released the Socio-Economic Survey of his government knitting together all the welfare schemes promised and launched by his government so far in the last one year without giving away much on how the developmental levers, if any, would benefit the State. However, it sought to present a rosy picture for the GSDP estimated at Rs 9,72,782 crore. The GSDP for 2019-20 is predicted at 8.16 per cent - much higher than the national growth of 5 per cent. Due to favourable and seasonal conditions, the agriculture sector grew by 18.96 per cent followed by the Horticulture sector with 11.67 per cent and livestock by 4.53 per cent. Similarly, Industry is also indicating a growth of 9.11 per cent during the period.
The survey listed the priorities of his government as: Economic growth, "Navaratnalu" and Human Development - Education, Health, Social Safety Net, Farmers' Welfare and welfare of the poorest of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged – path-breaking initiatives, Industry, Infrastructure, Skill Development and Employment and New Decentralised Governance- Village/ Ward and Volunteer set up.
It listed the allocations made to various segments of the society under various schemes to uplift the poor and spread the equity net in social and economic justice to all. Other path breaking measures were the establishment of AP Commission for Backward Classes, providing 50 per cent reservations to BC, SC, ST and minorities, in nominated works and contracts as well as nominated posts, 50 per cent reservations to women in nominated posts and also in contracts. It also mentioned Disha Bill, merger of APSRTC into the government, enhancement of monthly honorarium to AWWs, Asha workers and Home Guards, etc.
