Anantapur: District Collector Gandham Chandrudu appealed to the people not to take the light of Covid-19 virus. He advised them to prevent congregating in common places and be confined to their homes.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Collector announced the constitution of 20 committees and a coordination committee with 30 officers.

He advised the people not to go for panic buying as traders may indulge in hoarding and increase prices. He assured that all provisional stores and food and grocery points will be kept opened. At places like grocery stores where people might touch common things, liquid soap and sanitisers will be made available for the general public for maintenance of cleanliness.

Devotees entry into temples are barred and only the priests will be allowed to perform pujas sans devotees. All animal and cattle fairs are banned up to March 31. He urged people to strictly adhere to Janata curfew on Sunday. RTC buses and private buses will not ply. Business establishments and shops will remain closed from 7 am to 11 pm. Curfew conditions will prevail on Sunday and none should venture on to roads and public places, he said.

Meanwhile, District Collector responded to callers at 'Dial Your Collector' programme. One Charitha from Nidanawada village in Singanamala Mandal narrated that both her parents committed suicide in 2014 due to debts and she was not paid any compensation so far. He promised to verify the facts and make arrangements for payment of compensation.
