The government of Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to fill the vacancies of village and ward volunteers across the state every month. Village and Ward Secretariat Commissioner Naveen Kumar has issued orders to the Joint Collectors of all the districts to complete the process of filling the vacancies of volunteers in the districts between 1st and 16th of every month.

The orders also directed the MPDOs and Municipal Commissioners to bring the details of vacancies of volunteers to the notice of the Joint Collectors of the districts from time to time and warned of action in case of negligence in this regard. There are a total of 2.60 lakh volunteers across the state wherein currently there are 7,120 volunteer posts vacant. Of these, 5,154 village volunteer posts and 1,966 ward volunteer posts are vacant.

Authorities, meanwhile, have reacted to the ongoing campaign by the government to fire volunteers over the age of 35 and said that the false propaganda is being spread against the volunteers. They have urged all not to believe such things. The officials said that the measures were taken to remove six members who were selected in contrary to the rules, which is being misrepresented.
