In a yet another major setback for the Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in concern with land acquisition for the distribution of house site pattas to the poor, the High Court has issued key directions to the state government in this regard. In its orders, the High Court said that the mining lands in the state are not be allotted for other purposes as they belong to central government. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued interim orders on this.

The High Court, which was hearing a petition filed alleging allotment of mining lands in several parts of the state to poor as issued stay. The High Court directed the Andhra Pradesh government to file a counter case on the matter. Meanwhile, the distribution of house titles to the poor scheduled to take place on the 15th of this month in Andhra Pradesh has been postponed. This was clarified by AP Deputy CM and Revenue Minister Dharmana Krishnadas on Wednesday.

The government made clear that it would definitely distribut house site pattas but not on August 15. In fact, the AP government had planned to hold the event on July 8 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy. However, the program was postponed to August 15 as the land acquisition process for the house site pattas was not yet complete. The event looks set to be postponed once again in the wake of the latest development.
