APSRTC cuts cargo fare to farmers, small traders

Vijayawada: The AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has decided to slash transport charges collected from the customers in order to get closer to the common people, particularly the small traders and farmers.

The revised charges will be applicable to the cargo services below 100 km. The RTC has decided to charge up to Rs 1,000 for transportation of below one tonne commodities.

For transportation of 500 kg below 100 km, the RTC will charge only Rs 500. For example, transport charges below 500 kg of weight for 32 km from Vuyyur to Vijayawada are only Rs 500. For 1,000 kg (one tonne), the transport charges are only Rs 1,000. The RTC has decided to arrange a special vehicle for three tonne load.

No additional charges like toll charges or GST will be collected from customers. The RTC has announced to pay 5 per cent commission to the agents for booking the cargo in APSRTC cargo services.

APSRTC Vijayawada zone deputy chief manager K Srinivasa Rao appealed to the people to utilise the cargo services maintained by the trained drivers and save cargo vehicles.
