Andhra Pradesh State Tourism Minister Avanti Srinivas said it was unfortunate that the statue of Lord Rama was destroyed in Ramateertham in Viziqnagaram district. The minister was speaking at a press conference held in Visakhapatnam. The government will severely punish those who destroyed the idols of Lord Rama. "Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has already ordered a CID inquiry into the incident. The chief minister said the incident took place while touring Vizinagaram," Jagan said. Avanti suspected that a conspiracy angle was hidden in the Ramateertham incident.

Avanthi Srinivas was highly critical of the opposition on this occasion. Chandrababu was advised to refrain from inciting religious hatred. He questioned Chandrababu why he had come to Ramateertham who could not visit when other temples in the state were attacked. He criticized TDP for not being able to digest YSRCP's victory in nine seats in Vizianagaram district.

Chandrababu commented that Ramateertham had come for party purposes not with devotion to Ramu. Avanthi urged the BJP and Jana Sena parties to work hard to implement development guarantees like the Railway Zone and the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Corridor, which are bifurcation promises if they are in favor of the state. He asked the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and Janasena to cooperate for the development of the state.
