Vijayawada: Expressing satisfaction over the performance of staff involved in election duties, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said that the checking squads should be alert at grass-root level. Through video conference with election officers and superintending officers of all the 13 districts from here on Monday, the CEO reviewed the election arrangements.

On this occasion, he said the checking squads and election staff should work effectively. He further said that web casting and video cameras should be set up at all polling centres. He directed the officials to solve complaints immediately by providing opportunity to cast their votes without any hurdles.

He said that the Election Commission provided cVigil App for solving problems. He asked the officials to solve the problems in 100 minutes after registering the complaints. The police teams would be allotted, he said and added that as many as 5,000 security personnel would be deployed in the state additionally.

Dwivedi said that already voters' lists have been handed over to political parties. The officials should work by following the guidelines of the Election Commission. The basic amenities like drinking water and wheel chairs for the disabled persons should be provided at polling stations.

He also said that they have received complaints from political parties that their vehicles are being stopped though they have sufficient permissions. He suggested them to pursue the documents properly before taking decision. The vehicles which are involved in election duties would be monitored through global positioning system, he said. He asked them to work with coordination in the next 15 days.
