Guntur: BJP national secretary and party AP affairs in-charge Sunil V Deodhar said that caste was influencing the politics in Andhra Pradesh and added that it was a hurdle for the development. He addressed a meeting organised as part of membership drive at Tenali on Sunday.

Deodhar said caste politics and family rule were hampering the development of the state. He said that the BJP government at the Centre would extend benefits of welfare schemes irrespective of caste and see that their fruits reach all the eligible. Deodhar said that they want to enroll at least one lakh members in every parliamentary constituency.

BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana criticised that village volunteers system was nothing but another Janmabhoomi Committees under the TDP government. He said BJP leaders had morality and were committed to principles. "The image of our country has increased among nations after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister," he said and criticised that state governments were implementing the Central government schemes with their own own names which was not correct.

Former Union minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari accused Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of cheating the people of AP in the name of Special Category Status. She made it clear that there was no chance of Centre according SCS to AP. Purandeswari urged the government to provide employment security to ration dealers and field assistants in the backdrop of setting up of village secretariats and appointing village volunteers.

She also criticised the haphazard implementation of sand policy being implemented by the YSRCP government which resulted in crisis in construction sector and deprivation of livelihood to lakhs of workers. Tobacco Board chairman Y Raghnadha Babu, T Nagabushanam, N Venkat Rao and others participated.
