The cement companies have decided to reduce the cement prices at the behest of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met with the owners and representatives of various cement companies at the Tadepalli camp office on Monday. Cement companies have announced that they will reduce rates for the government's work, including the construction of houses for the poor and the Polavaram project.

The Pojolana Portable Cement (PPC) has been priced at Rs.225 while Ordinary Port Cement at Rs.235. These prices are lowest compared to that of any year between 2015–16 and 2019–2020. The price of cement in the current market is at Rs. 380.

State government officials have informed the company's representatives about the required cement for this year. The estimated requirement of cement for the Department of Housing is 40 lakh metric tonnes, Panchayati Raj Department 25 lakh metric tonnes, Water Resources Department 16.57 lakh metric tonnes and Municipal Department 14.93 metric tonnes respectively. "All these are the tasks of the state government, and going forward with the great will of building houses for poor, " officials said.

CM Jagan informed the company's representatives that 26.6 lakh houses will be given to the poor. "The government departments would report their needs to the District Collector and the cement would be distributed through the Collector while payments will be made after quality assurance, " CM said.

Representatives of the cement companies assured that there will be no problems in the supply of cement for various government works and Polavaram projects, including the construction of houses for the poor. Representatives of the cement companies said they would take necessary steps to ensure that the requirements were met and that a coordination committee would be formed with two to three representatives on behalf of the companies. Representatives from companies including Zuari Cement, Bhavya, Sagar, KCP, Rain, Bharti, UltraTech, JSW, Sri Chakra, India, My Home, Rancho, Penna, Dalmia, Aditya Birla, Chettinadu, Paranya, Parasakthi and NCL were present.
